Budgeting For Your Wedding

Posted by The Administrator on 02 08, 2010
Now aware of the things that you are supposed to spend on for your wedding, the next best thing to do is set a budget. The following are tips that, we hope, will set up your wedding budget:

• Decide on the kind of wedding that you wish to have, find out the costs involved and determine what you can actually afford. Get a reality check by canvassing prices through wedding sites and bridal expos on hand.

• Set your overall budget ceiling.

• Create a pie chart of wedding expenses, and divide it according to budget share. This generally includes venue, catering, attire, flowers, photo-video, invites, souvenirs, hair & make up, music/ entertainment and cake. (For a more complete list, see details under Wedding Fundamentals II).

More or less, 50% of the budget would usually go to the post-wedding reception expenses. If you wish to hold your wedding in an expensive site, then that might take up a big percentage of your budget. A multi-course meal, side bars, and pre-reception cocktails could really raise the cost. The next in rank is the cost of your photos and video. An excellent photo-video professional is expensive but is well worth it considering that all captured moments will remain, long after the wedding is over. Then comes the cost of your outfits. If you wish to pay for your entourage’s outfits (which is more politically correct), then you will have to allocate more. Flowers may take about the same percentage of the bill as does the music and entertainment. The remainder of your bill is split between the cost of your wedding rings, transportation, the invitations, souvenirs and extras in varying amounts.

• Make a Schedule of Expenses. Think of when you’ll be having money to pay for reservation fees, and subsequently, the balances. Study and compare the terms of payment presented by every supplier. Spread out your spending instead of paying for everything all at once. Consider discounts which will be available if paid in advance. Take advantage of good offers.

• Finalize your choices. Decide on your caterer, venue, designer, invites, souvenirs, and everything else, with your satisfaction and budget in consideration. If your budget cannot accommodate a more complicated details , then opt for simpler details. If your budget cannot accommodate a large number of attendees, then reduce the guest list at once. The moment that you are done with the nitty gritty, then you can adjust each category’s allocated budget according to your sense of priority.
